European Health Equity Map: Access, Policy and Systemic Vulnerability

Explore an interactive evidence map of health equity across 53 countries in the WHO European Region, including Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The dashboard brings together country-level information on HIV medicine availability and reimbursement, PrEP access and reported recipient counts, DoxyPEP availability and national guidance, sexuality education, family planning and abortion policy, migrant healthcare access, and selected HIV indicators.

Each country record presents reported values, explicit data gaps, items under review, source links and last-checked dates. The dashboard is designed to support public understanding, community-led advocacy and evidence-informed policy discussions without producing a simplified country ranking.

Data preparation and review

  • SHAPE compiled and curated the datasets using cited national, European and international public sources.

  • OpenAI’s ChatGPT supported source review, data structuring, terminology standardisation, consistency checks and development of the interactive visualisation. Final source selection, editorial decisions and publication responsibility remain with SHAPE.

  • AI-assisted review does not replace primary-source verification, expert assessment or country-level confirmation. Records with insufficient or conflicting evidence are identified as unavailable or under review rather than inferred.

  • PrEP recipient figures are reported service-use counts, not population coverage rates. DoxyPEP usage is not estimated where no country-specific figure is available.

  • Foreign-born HIV diagnoses and late HIV diagnosis use different definitions and denominators and should not be interpreted as equivalent or causal indicators.
