WHO Europe HIV Medication Access and Reimbursement Map
Explore the comprehensive HIV medication landscape across 53 WHO Europe countries. Use our interactive map to filter by manufacturer and drug class, and view real-time regional access, availability, and reimbursement policies for essential HIV treatments.
-
Coverage: 53 countries and areas in the WHO European Region, including Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
-
Evidence base: European Medicines Agency product information and the national health-ministry, medicines-agency, reimbursement-body, HIV-programme and ECDC sources cited in the country-product records.
-
How to read the data: Each record describes one medicine in one country or area. Marketing authorization, national supply and reimbursement are separate measures; regional authorization does not prove that a medicine is marketed, available or reimbursed in every country. In the All Medicines view, the map shows the reimbursed share among verified country-product records. Review-in-progress records are excluded from that percentage and remain separately visible.
-
Methodology: Status categories are an editorial comparison of stored country-product evidence. The dashboard does not rank clinical quality, recommend treatment or infer national access from regional authorization alone.
-
Research transparency: Data collection, extraction, standardization and technical quality checks were supported by AI-assisted research workflows, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and reviewed against the cited primary and institutional sources. SHAPE retains editorial responsibility for source selection, interpretation and publication.

Medicine availability, supply and reimbursement can change, and records under review should not be interpreted as confirmed access or non-access. This resource is provided for public information, research and policy discussion and is not prescribing guidance or medical advice.
